We are registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) and have SANAS accreditation in line with the Scope of Accreditation on the SANAS website.

About us

Seropreg Incorporated was established in 2013. The Director and owner, Ansie Roets, has been working as a veterinary technologist since 2001. She joined Seropreg in 2015 and became the sole owner of the company in 2017.

At Seropreg, our mission is to provide a veterinary service where results are quickly available, highly reliable and affordable to all clients. We aim to provide reliable results that are usable to the client and that will enable them to make accurate decisions or diagnoses. Our vision is to become one of the main role players in Animal Health and Biosecurity. We value integrity, honesty, confidentiality, respect, excellence, and accountability.

Microbiology

Our state-of-the-art laboratory is equipped to handle various tests for bacteria and protozoa that are of paramount importance in veterinary medicine.

Serology

Brucellosis Testing: Accredited by SANAS, our laboratory performs the Rose Bengal Test to diagnose Brucellosis in cattle, a critical service given the disease’s impact on animal health and productivity.
Pregnancy Testing: We provide an early detection serum pregnancy test for cattle, sheep, and goats, enabling timely management decisions in breeding programs.
ELISA Tests: Our range of ELISA tests covers various diseases and conditions. Clients are encouraged to contact the laboratory for detailed information on the specific ELISAs available.

Reproduction Services

Semen Evaluation: Our laboratory conducts detailed analyses of semen to assess fertility and overall reproductive health in bulls. This includes the examination of sperm motility, percentage live and morphology.
Venereal Disease Testing: We specialize in identifying the causative agents of venereal diseases in bulls, particularly focusing on Trichomonas foetus and Campylobacter fetus. To ensure accurate and timely diagnosis, we offer both culture-based methods and real-time PCR testing. Our participation in national proficiency testing programs underscores our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of test validity.

Parasitology

Faecal Analysis: An essential tool in the management of parasitic infections, our faecal analysis services help in the quantitative and qualitative assessment of parasitic load in livestock. We specialize in identifying:
- Nematodes: Roundworms that can cause significant health issues in livestock.
- Trematodes: Also known as flukes, these parasites can affect various organs and are a major concern in livestock health.
- Cestodes: Tapeworms that can lead to nutritional deficiencies and other health problems in animals.
- Protozoa: Including Cryptosporidium and other coccidia, which are important causes of diarrheal diseases in young animals.
